The Barking Bulldogs’s Site
wp5533b116.gif
The Barking Bulldogs plays intense and cheerful American old time music for square and contra dances. We work mainly to obtain a good swing in the music, this is what makes playing the music most satisfying to us both on the stage and when practicing and on the stage, mainly when we manage to infect the dancers with the intensity of the music.
Some of our American dance friend has called our style Southern or Georgia-style. Actually, we never tried directly to apply a special regional style, the five of us have roots in different music styles from American old time music through Scandinavian and Celtic folk music to bluegrass music. By learning from good international musicians and by playing together through 15 years we believe we have developed our own Barkingbulldogish Style.
